A Hard Day's Work

Yesterday the plein air turn out for our group was maybe the best ever.  At least 10 to 12 people showed to paint at Asilomar State Beach.  We couldn’t have asked for a better day in March.  We live in an amazing area with breathtaking coastal landscapes.  And you can’t beat the Pacific Grove, Carmel… Continue reading A Hard Day's Work

I’ve made a new page under the Plein Air Sites tab – I’ve added one webcam to check weather for the Santa Cruz Wharf.  If you have others to add, please go ahead.

Greetings from Ghost Ranch, Taos, and Santa Fe

Hi All, It’s heavenly here. The cottonwoods are neon yellow-gold so that it hurts your eyes. I’m painting each day and discovering new places. Having chiles for every meal. I’ve enjoyed being solo for 5 days in Santa Fe. There is a profound peace in this wide expanse. See you Tuesday for paint out. Jean

Porter Ranch Tuesday

What a day with so much to paint. Kim Hayes gave us a tour and some history. Foggy morning, but sun came out after lunch. Painted until 2:30. Thanks, Diane.

The scene was of pinon trees-sage brush – sink sandstone earth – cobalt/violet sky plus those fabulous billowing clouds.  We were so happy. Back at our hotel, we cooled off in… Continue reading A day of rest- we painted around Mt. Carmel

Zion- To the narrows but not through…

We had a workout today! Early start, drove one mile through a tunnel to be confronted by towering cliffs of red sandstone that stun you to silence.
