FAQ: Forgotten Password

How do I login if I forgot my password?

Only SCOP members may login. If you are a SCOP member, but have forgotten your password:

  1. Select Login from the main menu on the santacruzoilpainters.com website. You will be taken to a screen that will ask for your user ID and a password.
    • enter your user ID.  This is your email address from the SCOP Yahoo Group at the time your account was created. (If your email has changed, your user ID has not. User ID’s may not be changed without deleting the user.)
    • enter a password (enter anything, it doesn’t matter)
    • click enter
    • Note: you will not be permitted to enter the site but you will see something that asks if you have forgotten your password. Click on this and follow any instructions.
  2. You should receive an e-mail from the blog site giving your further instructions on how to establish a password. Open your e-mail and follow those instructions. There will be a link to a page where you can reset your password.
  3. You may replace the obscure suggested password with one that you can more easily remember.
  4. Copy your password and use that password for subsequent logins. (Remember the copy & paste commands are useful for moving passwords.)

If you click on the Remember Me checkbox before logging in, your user ID and password will be saved in a cookie file  on your computer. From then on, whenever you login from that computer your user ID and password will be filled in for you from the cookie.

You may login through Google if your email address in your website user profile is tied to a Google account. (Either because it is a gmail address or because it is tied to a Google+ or other Google account.)

If you don’t receive an email:
  - check your spam,
  - if not in your spam, the email address in your user profile may no longer be valid. Contact an admin to update your profile with your current email address
