Google Arts & Culture

Visit the major museums from the convenience of your computer.  View individual paintings up close to see brush strokes and tiny details. The average resolution for displayed works is 7 billion pixels – 1,000 times better than that of the average camera. This is the result of Google’s project to photograph paintings in ultra-high resolution in co-operation with major museums from around the world.

Juried Show Application Sites

Online Juried Shows – used by Santa Cruz Art League, MBPAPA, California Art League, and others for online applications for juried shows.

CaFÉ – CaFÉ has a huge variety of listings including calls for solo shows, international juried exhibitions, proposals, public commissions, and residencies. Each listing clearly provides the entry deadline, entry fee, event dates, and full details. You can search by call type, eligibility, city, and state. The listings are free to browse and there is no cost to register.

ZAPPlication – Similar to CaFÉ, everything is done online. Register for free, upload your work and apply all online. The jurors score online too. You will receive email notifications of the status of your entry and any other necessary details. Used by Santa Cruz Open Studios.

Gamut Mask Tool

Sometimes colors just fight each other. The Gamut Mask Tool can be used to create harmonic color schemes and to analyze the color harmony of a painting that isn’t working. Gamut masks cover a color wheel and reveal only those colors that should be present for that color scheme. They can be use to create analogous, complimentary, split complimentary, and balanced color schemes.
